Idealist Teachers: About this site

What is Idealist?

What is Idealist.org?

Idealist.org is a project of Action Without Borders, a global network of individuals and organizations working to build a world where all people can live free and dignified lives in a healthy environment.

Over 45,000 nonprofit organizations from around the world maintain profiles of their work on Idealist. An organization's profile contains, at the least, some basic information about the work they do, including their mission, contact information, and website address.

Most profiles also include additional information such as current volunteer opportunities and internships, resources and materials that the organization offers, services that they provide to the community, and job openings. You can search for this information by geographic location, keyword, and area of focus.

What is Idealist Teachers?

Idealist Teachers offers resources and tools that can be used to help introduce young people to issues that nonprofit organizations pursue and to encourage them to get involved in their communities.

On Idealist Teachers you'll find a Volunteer Resource Center, free online lesson plans and teaching materials offered by nonprofit organizations, and guides on how to find issue-specific resources on Idealist.

What is Idealist Kids & Teens?

Idealist Kids & Teens introduces young people (18 and younger) to the world of nonprofit organizations and encourages them to get involved in their communities and in the activities and issues that nonprofit organizations pursue.

On Idealist Kids & Teens your students will find age-appropriate resources offered by nonprofit organizations. This includes information about youth volunteering, resources for how to start projects to help their community, nonprofit websites on issues like human rights, the environment, and the arts designed specifically for kids, and organizations that can help them with their personal problems.
